Discovering The Aftrad Village Kitchen 10 Spice Blend for Jollof Rice

I received this Aftrad Village Kitchen 10 Spice Blend as a competition prize via Instagram. I entered the competition without thinking but received a lovely alert and it was in celebration of world jollof rice day so that was a nice touch. It is a special blend of 10 traditional spices used in Ghanaian cooking and generally in West African cooking and is recommended for use in making jollof rice but can be used for other dishes too including stews & soups or to season chicken, fish, meat or vegetables. It is basically an all-purpose seasoning and it’s good to know that it made by an independent business in the UK.

The spices in the blend include: Nkitinkiti (aniseed), Ginger, Rosemary, Pepre(Cloves), Black Pepper, Curry Powder, Onion, White Pepper, Salt and Garlic. The blend has a great rich flavour and not only smells great but smells fresh – some spice blends don’t have that fresh smell as they have been stored for a long time but this blend smells and tasted fresh which is great. These spices have been blended in special proportions to give a good taste when used in cooking. It contains no preservatives, no MSG or additives but contains all natural ingredients.

This item was gifted to me but you can buy some aftrad village kitchen spices here here: I can’t wait to start cooking with the blend!
