How To Be Hungry, Healthy, Happy!
When I received a copy of “Hungry Healthy Happy: How to nourish your body without giving up the food you love” by Dannii Martin just before the New Year I was excited! Every 31st of December I am determined to eat healthier in the coming year and by the 2nd of January I have succumbed to some unhealthy treat so I was eager to start this New Year in the right way with some healthier eating habits.
What I immediately liked was that the recipes included favourite foods such as, wait for it, burgers, chocolate and pancakes but with a healthy twist. So you don’t get to miss out on the things you love. The recipes I have tried have been a hit and so simple and straight forward to make. My firm favourite recipes thus far have been the Sweet Potato Hash – as delicious as it sounds and very quick and simple to make. It has become my Saturday staple.
The Dairy Free Shepherd’s Pie – which at first glance I thought you can’t make Shepard’s pie delicious without butter and milk ….and some cheeky cheese. But boy was I wrong! It is everything you want on a cold winter’s day, the perfect comfort food and it’s healthy packed full with vegetables that if you have kids they would not notice.
The 2-Minute Healthy ‘Ice Cream’ is incredible, the main ingredient which is purely frozen banana whipped into delicious smooth ice cream like deliciousness with a choice of healthy toppings (I opted for shaved dark chocolate) I now keep a stash of sliced bananas in my freezer.
What I particularly like about Hungry Heathy Happy is that it is not telling you to diet, restrict your portions or what you are eating. It is showing how easy it is to make the foods you eat on a regular basis healthier and teamed exercise helping you lead a healthier lifestyle.
I am definitely working my way through the recipes in the book and would definitely recommend to everyone.
